One of the principles of CBT is to enable the client to become their own ‘therapist’ and learn how to manage the problem they present with themselves. This, in addition to its structured short-term nature and the vast body of self-help information and manuals makes it possible to offer CBT in a variety of formats to suite a range of needs. These include:

Option A: Assessment and advice
Option B: Assessment and treatment trial
Option C: Assessment and treatment including follow-up

Costs

Option A: Assessment and Advice

Assessment followed by 1 treatment session in which the client will be advised regarding specific Cognitive Behavioural strategies and appropriate self-help resources.

£300.00

Option B: Assessment and Treatment Trial (2-3 months approx)

Assessment followed by up to 7 treatment sessions allowing the client to gain confidence in the approach. In addition to cognitive behavioural strategies the problem is defined in a cognitive behavioural formulation, end of treatment targets are agreed and objective clinical measures completed pre and post trial. Relapse prevention strategies will also be taught.

£840.00 + case management as required

Option C: Assessment and Treatment including follow-up (2-3 months +)

As above. However, the criteria for closure will be the attainment of agreed end of treatment target after which there will be a period of up to 8 weeks when the client will consolidate on gains made during treatment by them and during which period they can make contact for additional advice or support before a final discharge session.

£840.00 + case management as required (min)

Option A will help those patients who are highly motivated, whilst the majority of referrals will be able to affect significant change via Option B.

Should a patient initially choose Option A, but subsequently opts for B or C within 6 months of the original assessment, the cost of assessment will be waived.
